The Archive
The Aim: Establishing an Archive for Pluckley and Little Chart.
The Archiving Team has been open for five years now, albiet with a break during covid. We have been accessioning the items from the church shed as well as items donated. We have completed the first stage of the graveyard project and the older graves are no recorded and mapped.
In order that the archive is easy to use we have bought specialist archive software from Archlife. We are learning how to input the information, box up and catalogue all the items and trying not to be distracted by the fascinating bits of information that come our way. Eventually we will start using the camera in Smarden, helped by Smarden Local History Society, to digitise some of the collection. Hopefully this will mean that the archive will be searchable and many items will be digitally stored making the archive more useful to visitors of the centre. We are looking in particular for objects to display so if you have anything you can lend or would like to donate please get in touch.
Pluckley's Community Chronicle
The Parish Magazine has unfortunately stopped (Local events were posted online so the need for it disapeared) but instead we hope to produce History Journals every so often. These will contain articles about the people and buildings of Pluckley. If you might be interested in this do get in touch.
